In July 2022 I started work as a shop technician at the Cal Poly Machine Shops. As a technician my responsibility is to teach students how to use a mill, lathe, welding equipment, or hand tools. I also provide assistance and advice on manufacturing to students and senior project teams from across campus. Other responsibilities include cutting parts on the waterjet, maintaining machines, and keeping the shop clean.
In Spring 2023 I was promoted to a Senior Technician position in which I was responsible for training and certifying new shop technicians to teach students. I worked here until I graduated in 2025.
In my time at the Shops I have gained a wealth of knowledge from my hands on work in the shops, not only helping, but manufacturing parts of my own. Below I've left a few pictures of some things I made in the shop that didn't get their own project page. For more interesting shop projects check out my bike, rocket, sushi knife, or carbon rotor blades manufacturing.
